Storm Falls to Ferrum, 15-10, in Inaugural Game

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Despite consistent rain and wind that made for a difficult tract, the Lake Erie College women's lacrosse team had plenty of offense in its varsity debut on Tuesday (March 2).  Unfortunately for the Storm, Ferrum College had more firepower in a 15-10 win in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Lake Erie (0-1) held an edge in shots on goal in the match, but Ferrum goalkeeper Valena Taylor made 14 saves to keep the Storm somewhat in check.

Freshmen Meredith Howe (Fayetteville, N.Y./Jamesville Dewitt) and Julie Kudla (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) each scored four goals to pace the LEC attack.

Brooke Hewartson led the Panthers (1-1) with eight goals.

The Storm will play an exhibition game against the club team from Coastal Carolina University on Wednesday (March 3) before wrapping up its spring break trip on Friday, March 5, at Erskine College.
