PAINESVILLE, OHIO – The Lake Erie College women's lacrosse team posted the highest team grade point average in Division II, earning designation as an academic Merit Squad by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) for the 2010 season.

A total of nine teams were designated as Academic Squads, with the top three earning Merit Squad status. Lake Erie led the nation with a 3.40 team GPA, followed by Philadelphia University at 3.30 and Dowling College at 3.24.

"I am really proud of our team for earning Merit Squad status," said head coach Laura Maness. "This achievement shows that they are truly student-athletes, succeeding both in the classroom and on the field."

The Storm posted a 7-7 overall record in its inaugural season this past spring, including a 2-5 mark in the highly competitive East Coast Conference.
