Storm Gets First Win of Season in Team Effort

The Lake Erie College women's lacrosse team (1-3) picked up its first win of the season over Indiana Tech University (7-2), 16-11, in Fort Wayne, Ind. It was a team effort for the Storm as four players scored at least three goals. 

It was the second straight season the Storm downed the Warriors, as they took last year's meeting in Painesville, 22-20, in overtime. 

It was a balanced scoring attack for Lake Erie with sophomore midfielder Meredith Howe (Fayetteville, N.Y./Jamesville Dewilt) leading the way with four goals.  The Storm got three goals each from Sophomore midfielder Julia Kudla (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) and freshman attackers Annie Mendoza (Lansing, Mich./Lansing Catholic) and Ashriel West (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville Dewitt).  Sophomore attacker Allison Trombetti( Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) added a pair of goals as well. 

The defensive effort was led by junior Liz Stephens (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) and sophomore Brittany Rabuano (Auburn, N.Y/Auburn).  Rabuano also scored in the game. 

In goal for the Storm, sophomore goalkeeper Brittanie Johnson (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) was strong in her first start of the season. 

Lake Erie is in action next on Tuesday (Mar. 29) when they travel to Urbana University.  First draw will be a 4:00 p.m.
