PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Lake Erie College (5-4) netted a school record for goals in a half with 17 in the first half en route to a 20-7 victory over visiting Urbana University (1-10) at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium in Painesville, Ohio.

Lake Erie was led by sophomore Annie Mendoza (Lansing, Mich./Lansing Catholic) who set a new career-high with five goals, all coming in the first half.  Sophomore Ashriel West (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville Dewitt) scored four goals and set career-highs with six assists and 10 points.  Junior midfielder Brittany Rabuano (Auburn, N.Y/Auburn) came into the game as the Storm's primary distributor with 10 assists but just three goals on the season before surpassing that total in just one game with four goals.  Junior Julia Kudla (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) added three goals and season-highs of five assists and eight points.

Lake Erie led wire-to-wire as Mendoza scored Lake Erie's first three goals and the first two goals of the game.  The Storm pushed ahead 7-1 at 17:46 when West scored on a free position shot. Urbana was able to keep Lake Erie off the board for a 6:15 stretch, making up one goal in the process, but Lake Erie went on a scoring flurry, with 10 goals in the last 11:31 of the first half, including seven in under six minutes.  Lake Erie led 17-4 at the halftime.

Rabauno scored from West to open the second half at 28:00. The second half moved along quickly with a running clock throughout and Lake Erie would not for another 21 minutes as the Blue Knights scored three straight goals to close the score to 18-7.  Junior Kim Dang (Atlanta, Ga./Jackson) and freshman Hana Abu-Kwiek (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) each score in the final eight minutes as Lake Erie successfully ran the clock out.

In goal, sophomore Emily Rock (Hamilton, Ohio/Lakota West) made seven saves for the Storm.

Lake Erie dominated the battle for draw controls, 24-6.

The Storm play at home again Friday with a home contest against Grand Valley State University at 1:00 p.m. as part of Lake Erie's "Taking Breast Cancer By Storm" initiative.
