PAINESVILLE, OHIO – After taking a five-goal lead with just over two minutes remaining, the Lake Erie College women's lacrosse team held off a furious rally from visiting Grand Valley State University in the closing minutes for a 13-12 nonconference win Friday afternoon (March 6) at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium.

Sophomore Ashriel West (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville Dewitt) scored her fourth goal of the afternoon to give Lake Erie (6-4) a 13-8 lead with 2:22 to play.  Grand Valley's (5-6) Victoria Devine scored four times in the next 2:07 to cut the deficit to one, but West made another big play, taking the final draw with 15 seconds to go and the Storm ran out the clock for their second straight win and fourth in a row at home.

West and Devine shared game scoring honors with four goals apiece.  Junior Julia Kudla (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) scored three times and added three assists for the Storm and classmate Meredith Howe (Fayetteville, N.Y./Jamesville Dewitt) also scored three goals.

Howe's goal with three seconds before halftime gave the Storm a 7-6 edge at the break.  Lake Erie led 9-8 with 18 minutes left before the Storm went on a 4-0 run to take the aforementioned five-goal lead.

Korinne Culley had three goals and Meagan Emery and Brooke Ingraham each scored twice for the Lakers.

Sophomore Emily Rock (Hamilton, Ohio/Lakota West) made eight saves while GVSU's Audrey Kobe turned away 11 shots.

The Storm returns to East Coast Conference play on Wednesday, April 11, at Seton Hill University.
