Gryba Named GLIAC Athlete of the Week

BAY CITY, Mich.—Lake Erie College women's lacrosse junior midfielder Samantha Gryba (Okotoks, Alberta/National Sport Academy) has been named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for her performances in wins over Wheeling Jesuit University and Walsh University last week.

Gryba scored nine goals in addition to five groundballs and a caused turnover to lead the Storm to a 2-0 record for the week.  Against Wheeling Jesuit on Friday (April 25), Gryba scored five goals and grabbed two groundballs as the Storm prevailed in overtime, 15-14. In their regular season finale against Walsh Sunday (April 27), Gryba tallied five goals, three groundballs and one caused turnover.  For the season, Gryba has 31 goals, 18 groundballs and nine caused turnovers.

This marks the second straight week that a member of the Storm has earned the honor, with Ashriel West (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville Dewitt) earning the honor last week.

The Storm is back in action Friday (May 2) in the GLIAC Championships Semifinals.
