PHILIPPI, Wv. – The Lake Erie College women's lacrosse team was in action today as they defeated Alderson Broaddus, 20-7.  With the win the Storm improves to 11-2 overall and a perfect 9-0 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action. 

The game started as a defensive battle as the first four minutes of the game were scoreless, but the Battlers scored the first goal of the game and grabbed a 1-0 edge.  The Storm answered a minute later when Anastasia Crawford (Corning, N.Y. / Corning Painted Post East) scored an unassisted goal to tie the game at one goal apiece.  A minute and a half later Taylor Mathis (Corning, N.Y. / Corning) scored off a feed from Anna Spin (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn), and gave Lake Erie a 2-1 advantage.  About three minutes later the Battlers scored, and tied the game at two goals apiece.  The Storm answered as Crawford found the back of the net off a feed from A. Spin.  Lake Erie grabbed a 4-2 edge when Meagan Maxwell (Hamburg, NY / Hamburg) scored an unassisted goal.  20 seconds later the Storm added to their lead when Cecilia Spin (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn) scored an unassisted goal, to give Lake Erie a 5-2 edge.  A minute later the Storm tacked on a fourth straight goal when A. Spin scored off an assist by C. Spin.  Lake Erie took a 7-2 edge when C. Spin scored off a pass from A. Spin, with just over 11 minutes remaining in the half.  20 seconds later Mathis scored the sixth consecutive goal for the Storm.  30 seconds later A. Spin found the back of the net off a feed from Mathis, and gave Lake Erie a 9-2 lead.  With just over six minutes remaining in the first half Crawford scored off an assist from Mathis, and gave the Storm a 10-2 edge.  The Battlers responded with back to back goals, and cut the Storm lead to 10-4.  Lake Erie ended the half with four straight goals, as Haley Andersen (Henderson, Nev. / Coronado) Maxwell, and C. Spin scored for the Storm.  Lake Erie entered the intermission ahead, 14-4.

Alderson Broaddus opened the second half scoring with a goal, but the Storm responded with a pair of goals, which were scored by Andersen and Mathis.  The Battlers responded with a goal, and cut the Storm lead to 16-6.  Lake Erie answered with three straight goals to take a 19-6 edge.  The goals were scored by A. Spin, Mathis, and C. Spin.  The teams each traded a goal late in the game, as Crawford scored for the Storm.  Lake Erie won the game, 20-7. 

The Storm was led by C. Spin as she had four goals, four assists, and five draw controls.  Mathis pitched in with four goals, two assists, and three draw controls.  Crawford added four goals, and three draw controls in the game.  A. Spin added three goals and four assists, and six draw controls in the game.   

Lake Erie will be back in action Tuesday (April 24) when they host Ursuline, with the game set to start at 4 p.m.
