PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Lake Erie College junior outfielder Brandon James (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) continues to garner postseason accolades as he was recently named to the East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II All-Star Team. James was one of 12 players selected to the team.
Earlier James was named, along with teammate Ryan Rua (Amherst, Ohio/Amherst), to the ABCA Midwest Region Second Team and was selected as the Lake Erie College Department of Athletics “Male Athlete of the Year.”
James led the team in hitting this season with the second highest average in school history, .411, and also was the only player on the team to start every game. He finished with 60 hits and 44 runs scored – both school single-season records- along with eight home runs, 37 runs batted in, a team-high three triples and 11 stolen bases. The school's all-time leader in stolen bases, James led the team in walks (21) and on-base percentage (.651) and had hitting streaks of 13 and 11 during the year.
The ECAC is the nation's largest athletic and the only multi-divisional conference with approximately 300 Divisions I, II, and III colleges and universities from Maine to North Carolina and westerly to Illinois. Established in 1938, the ECAC, a non-profit service organization, sponsors nearly 100 championships in 37 men's and women's sports, assigns more than 4,400 officials in 12 sports, administers nine affiliate sports organizations and six playing leagues and recognizes more than 2,000 student-athletes through the public relations arm of the conference. The ECAC serves as the primary conference for select members in the sports of men's and women's ice hockey, and men's lacrosse.
