PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Thanks to impressive starts to their summer seasons, Lake Erie College pitchers Adam Beach (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) and Tyler Minnich (Lagrange, OhioKeystone) were named to East All-Star teams in the Prospect and Southern Collegiate Baseball leagues, respectively.
Beach, who is one of the top hurlers in the Prospect League, pitched a perfect sixth inning with a strikeout in the East's 4-2 loss to the West on July 13. On the season Beach is second in the league with five wins (5-1 record) and third with a 1.40 ERA. He's made eight starts, striking out 40 batters in 45 innings for the first-place Ironmen.
Minnich was named an alternate to the East All-Stars, despite leading the SCBL with a 1.86 ERA. He's 3-1 in eight games (six starts) and has thrown 29 innings this season for the Carolina Stingers.
This is the third straight year that at least one member of the Storm baseball program has earned a summer league all-star selection. In 2009, Beach and 2011 MLB draft pick Ryan Rua were picked for the SCBL All-Star game and last year Rua was the MVP of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game.
