PAINESVILLE, Ohio—Lucas Raley of the Lake Erie College baseball team earned a 2016 Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division-II Gold Glove nomination, announced by the organization Monday (May 23).
To earn the nomination for the national Gold Glove Team, Raley (Hinckley, Ohio/Medina Highland) earned one of the three outfielder slots in the Midwest region, voted on by the regional coaches.
Raley had a fielding percentage of .983 with 11 assists for the 2016 season. He earned First-Team All-Midwest and All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honors earlier in the offseason.
The former GLIAC Freshman of the Year had a phenomenal season at the plate. He batted .424 with an on-base percentage of .528 and a slugging percentage of .747. In 158 at-bats, Raley had 67 hits including 11 doubles, two triples and 12 homeruns. He scored 54 times and drove in 39 runs. Raley stole 12 bases and earned 28 walks. He had 25 multi-hit and 10 multi-RBI games. The junior had a season-high six RBI against David and Elkins College.
