Storm Ready For Split Series With Ashland (Preview)

PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College baseball team will take on the Ashland University Eagles in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) home and home series this weekend.

The Storm will host the Eagles in a doubleheader on Friday (April 28) at Lake Catholic High School, in nearby Mentor, Ohio, beginning at 1:30 PM. The Storm will travel to Ashland to complete the series on Sunday (April 30) with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 PM.

Storm Report: Lake Erie is 10-30 overall and 3-21 in the GLIAC after the Storm split a non-conference doubleheader with California (Pa.) on Wednesday. The Storm won game one 17-11 but fell in game two 9-6. Wes Birchmeier (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg) leads the team with 50 hits and 34 RBI.

Opposition Position: Ashland enters the weekend with an overall record of 15-29. The Eagles are 7-20 in the GLIAC. In their last game, the Eagles defeated Cedarville 16-3. J.P. Sorma leads the Eagles with a .367 batting average.

Series History: The Storm and the Eagles have met 23 times in the series. The Eagles swept all four games last season as the Storm holds a 6-17 record.

Storm Forecast: Lake Erie will close out the regular season with a series with Hillsdale College at home on May 6-7.
