Storm Opens G-MAC Play at Ohio Valley (Preview)

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College baseball team will open Great Midwest play with a doubleheader against the Ohio Valley University Fighting Scots on Tuesday (March 13) afternoon. The games will take place at 1:00 and 4:00 PM.

Storm Report: Lake Erie is 2-8-1 this season heading into the conference slate. The Storm won the first game of a three game series with Concord last weekend before falling the last two games. Wes Birchmeier (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg) had six hits in the last series for the Storm.

Opposition Position: Ohio Valley is 9-7 this season following a 1-3 trip to Kissimmee, Florida last week. The Fighting Scots defeated Lynn University but fell on Florida Tech, Seton Hill and Northwood. Travis Perkola leads the team with 20 hits, 12 RBI, 23 total bases and seven stolen bases.

Series History: The Storm and the Fighting Scots have not met on the diamond since the Storm jumped to Division II.

Storm Forecast: Lake Erie will debut their new home for the next three seasons, Classic Park with a doubleheader against Cedarville on Friday (March 16) afternoon.
