Baseball Clinches G-MAC Bid With Wins in West Virginia

ELKINS, W. Va.- The Lake Erie baseball team clinched their bid for the G-MAC tournament with a pair of wins against Davis & Elkins College today. 

Final scores of the games were 4-0, and 10-1. On the mound in the first game was Storm junior Ryan Middendorf, working for eight innings of shutout baseball in which he gave up three hits and two walks while earning seven strikeouts. Senior David Lemasters closed the game, earning two strikeouts in one inning of work.

Storm senior Evan Layne started the second game on the bump, allowing one earned run on four hits and three walks, and earning five strikeouts, in six innings pitched. Junior Christopher Mutter closed the game by earning three strikeouts. 

Fueling the offense for the Storm was senior Rees Rua. Rua went 5-9 at the plate today with two doubles and a single, eight RBIs, and scored one himself. 

The Storm looks to finish their regular season off with a sweep tomorrow with their final two games of the series against Davis & Elkins taking place at 12 and 3:30 pm tomorrow before heading to Cincinnati for Lake Erie's first appearance at the G-MAC tournament later this week.
