    The last, but definitely not least, baseball student-athlete in our Storm Senior Spotlight series is Ryan Middendorf. The towering righty has been instrumental in the resurgence of the Green and White on the diamond.

    It’s been a bumpy ride for Aaron Kucia’s collegiate baseball career, but his dedication has remained firm over the last four years. The Brunswick native has made 21 appearances over his four seasons, but all took place during the first two. Last year saw his season cut short due to an injury, while this year saw everyone’s season hindered by the pandemic.

    Collin Minor may have been with the Lake Erie baseball team for just a couple of seasons, but the Medina native had a noticeable impact with the Storm. He’s made appearances in 28 games for the Green and White, but has served valiantly when called upon.

    Staying with the pitching staff, lefty Ryan Lally of the Lake Erie baseball team is today’s Storm Senior Spotlight. Ryan hails from Wooster, Ohio, and is in his fifth year with the team after taking a redshirt during the 2018 campaign.

  • Vaught Accepts Full Time Role As Head Coach

    When the Lake Erie baseball team returns to campus for the upcoming year, there will be a familiar face guiding the team. Interim Director of Athletics and Vice President for Student Affairs Billie Dunn announced the promotion of Gary Vaught who will lose the interim tag and become the Storm’s full time head coach.

    Today’s Storm Senior Spotlight goes out to the southpaw from Sylvania in Corbin Paxton of the Lake Erie baseball team. The product of Sylvania-Northview has seen plenty of playing time during his four years with the Green and White, mostly appearing at first base.

    Behind every good pitching staff has to be a solid catcher, and Lake Erie baseball has a solid one in Nathan Erzen. The Brookpark native has spent four seasons with the Storm and has helped them rise up through the conference ranks during that time.

    Today’s Storm Senior Spotlight focuses on Sam Browning, a mainstay in the infield for Lake Erie the past four seasons. Through his career he’s played in 126 games and helped the Storm improve each year.

    Today’s Storm Senior Spotlight goes to a student-athlete that’s been a main fixture on the diamond the last four years. Shortstop Caleb Waller worn the No. 1 jersey proudly over his career and has helped Lake Erie rise from the ashes his freshman season to help build the Storm into a force to be reckoned with.

    Today’s Storm Senior Spotlight is Brady Minetti, a multi-talented student-athlete on the baseball diamond for Lake Erie. The McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, native is one of the components of Lake Erie’s senior-heavy lineup and was having an impressive season before it was cut short due to the pandemic.

    Lake Erie couldn’t stop the bats of Lenoir-Rhyne as the hosts completed a three-game sweep with a 13-3 victory in seven innings this afternoon. The Storm fall to 3-6-1 on the season while the Bears improved to 15-10.

    In its second trip to the Tar Heel State, Lake Erie was swept in a twin bill against Lenoir-Rhyne by scores of 6-5 and 7-1 Monday evening. The Storm (3-5-1) will have an opportunity to take one back against the Bears (14-10) as they conclude the three-game series tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m.
  • Bryant Fans Bakers Dozen In Split With Falcons

    Tyler Bryant (Amarillo, Texas / Oklahoma Panhandle) mowed down 13 batters to help Lake Erie split a twin bill with rival Notre Dame College at Sprenger Stadium on a chilly Saturday afternoon. Bryant’s performance helped the Storm win 7-4 while the Falcons (2-8) bounced back and won the backend 7-6.
  • Storm's Powerful Bats and Battery Blast St. Rose

    A masterful Mitch Sorensen and a powerful top half of the lineup helped Lake Erie even up the season with an 11-1 victory over Saint Rose at Fleming Stadium on Sunday. Sorensen mowed down the Golden Knights with 11 strikeouts while the Storm’s one through five batters combined for eight of the team’s 11 hits and nine RBI’s.
  • Alumni Events Scheduled For Baseball, Women's Soccer

    The Lake Erie baseball and women’s soccer teams have announced a pair of alumni events to be held this spring. Baseball will host the first event on Sunday, March 15, while women’s soccer will host an alumni game on Saturday, April 18.

    Lake Erie opened up the season with a pair of defeats by scores of 4-3 to Augusta and 8-3 to Anderson on Saturday. The Storm will finish the weekend with another game at Memorial Stadium against Saginaw Valley State tomorrow at 11 a.m.

    The 2020 season gets underway in the Palmetto State as Lake Erie heads south for three games hosted by Anderson University at Memorial Stadium. The Trojans are entertaining six games on the weekend that starts today, but the Storm won’t hit the diamond until Saturday when they take on Augusta and Anderson.

    The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has released its 2020 Preseason Coaches Poll presented by Under Armour and fans will notice that divisions are back after a year off. Lake Erie, under the guidance of interim head coach Gary Vaught, will compete in the East Division and were picked fourth out of the six teams.
  • Legendary Veteran Vaught Named Interim Head Coach

    Lake Erie College and Director of Athletics Kelley Kish have announced the hiring of the legendary Gary Vaught as the interim head coach of the Storm baseball program. Vaught comes out of retirement after a lengthy 24-year stint at the University of Indianapolis where he guided the Greyhounds to 808 victories, two trips to the NCAA Division II tournament, and two GLVC tournament championships.
  • Former Storm Star Raley Named To Twins' 40-Man Roster

    Former Lake Erie College baseball standout Luke Raley continues to make the ranks in Major League Baseball as he was named to the Minnesota Twins’ 40-man roster this week. The Hinckley, Ohio, native played for the Storm from 2014 through 2016 before being the first NCAA Division II player drafted in the seventh round of the 2016 MLB June Amateur Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

    The Lake Erie baseball coaching staff is expanding as Head Coach Ray Skjold has announced the hiring of John Chalupa, Ronnie Krsolovic, and David Lemasters. The trio come to Lake Erie with professional and international experience as well as time playing professionally.
  • Baseball Hosting Prospect Camp On October 26

    Lake Erie baseball will be hosting a prospect camp on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Briggs Field at Kiwanis Rec Park in downtown Painesville. The event is open to high school students in grades 9 through 12.
