  • Baseball Gets Walk-Off Victory, Splits Doubleheader Vs. Walsh
    April 16, 2021
    On a chilly and overcast Friday afternoon, the Lake Erie baseball team hosted Walsh at Classic Park in Eastlake for a doubleheader. In the first game, the Cavaliers won by a score of 7-2. But in the second game, Trace Peterson's RBI single in extra innings earned the Storm a 3-2 win and a split in the doubleheader.

    On Friday night, Hinckley, Ohio native and former Lake Erie College baseball player Luke Raley made his Major League Baseball debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

    Lake Erie baseball’s games vs. Trevecca Nazarene scheduled for Saturday, April 10 and Sunday, April 11 have been postponed due to COVID-19 testing and contact tracing among the Storm program. 
  • Baseball Bested by Panthers in Saturday Doubleheader

    On Saturday afternoon, the Lake Erie College baseball team played its second consecutive doubleheader at Classic Park against Kentucky Wesleyan. In the first game, the Panthers topped the Storm by a score of 6-4. And in the second game, KWU won 14-2.
  • Storm Come Up Empty-Handed in Doubleheader vs. Kentucky Wesleyan

    On a brisk early April afternoon at Classic Park in Eastlake, the Lake Erie College baseball team faced off with visiting Kentucky Wesleyan. In the first game, Kentucky Wesleyan came out on top, 7-2. And in the second contest, the Panthers once again bested the Storm, this time to the tune of 8-6.
  • Baseball Loses Game 1 to Findlay
    March 28, 2021
    On an overcast day in northwest Ohio, the Lake Erie College baseball team lost the first game of its doubleheader against Findlay, 10-9.  Going only seven innings, the Oilers, who were down 9-3 with only six outs left in the ballgame, rallied to put up seven runs in the last two innings and walk off against the Storm for the second time in as many days.
  • Storm Drops Second Game of Doubleheader to Findlay

    In the second game of their doubleheader at Findlay Sunday, the Lake Erie College baseball team lost by a score of 15-9. This drops the Storm's record to 3-12 on the season, while the Oilers move to 9-10.
  • Baseball Loses Heartbreaker to Findlay in Game 1

    In the first of a pair of baseball games between the two teams on Saturday afternoon, Lake Erie College lost to Findlay, 5-4. The loss put the Storm's record at 2-10 on the season, while Findlay improves to 7-9.

    The Lake Erie Storm baseball team traveled to Cedarville this weekend to face off with the Yellow Jackets. Unfortunately for the Storm though, Cedarville got the best of them in all four contests.

    The Lake Erie baseball team fell on the road at Mercyhurst Saturday, losing 8-7. The loss puts the Storm's record at 2-5 on the young year, while Mercyhurst improves to 5-1.
  • Storm Split Twin Bill at Notre Dame College

    The first game of the Lake Erie baseball team's doubleheader at Notre Dame College saw the Storm lose, 9-2. A promising start fell victim to too many runs allowed in the later innings, and Lake Erie was unable to come back. In Game 2, the Storm seemingly were able to settle into things a little more and correct some mistakes from the first ball game, winning the game in dazzling extra-inning fashion, 4-3.

    On a cool Monday afternoon in Erie, Pennsylvania, the baseball team of Gannon University defeated Lake Erie College, 4-2. The victory propelled the Golden Knights to a 2-1 record on the young season, while the loss dropped the Storm to a record of 1-3.
  • G-MAC Baseball Coaches Preseason Poll Released

    The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has released its 2021 Preseason Coaches Poll presented by Under Armour for baseball, and fans will notice that divisions are gone again after being back in place last year. Lake Erie, under the guidance of head coach Gary Vaught, is projected to finish ninth out of 11 teams in the G-MAC, receiving 31 points in the process. With Vaught, the Storm look to build upon the work they put in in 2020 before COVID-19 caused the majority of the season to be cancelled.
  • Storm Split Doubleheader at Southern Indiana, Lose Series

    On a day which was only supposed to have one game between the Lake Erie Storm baseball team and the Screaming Eagles of Southern Indiana, impending weather on Sunday caused that game to be moved to Saturday as well. Lake Erie grabbed their first win of the season in Game 1, coming back from down three runs in the ninth inning to win. But Southern Indiana won a decisive victory in Game 2 and took the series, two games to one.

    It was quite a long time coming, with the time in between games spanning nearly a full year due to COVID-19. But for the Lake Erie baseball team, the wait finally ended on Friday, as the Storm lost their season opener on the road to Southern Indiana, 9-3.

    After having their 2020 season shortened to only 10 games due to COVID-19, the Lake Erie College baseball team takes to the field for the first time in almost a year on Friday, when the Storm embark on the first of a three-game weekend series at Southern Indiana. Returning for the Storm are many of their mainstays from last season, including seniors Nate Birtley, Sam Browning, Reed Collins, and Trace Peterson, each of whom played in all 10 games last season before the rest of the games on the schedule were cancelled.
  • Ireton, Krsolovic Selected to Attend Emerging Leaders Seminar

    Lake Erie assistant women's soccer coach Maddy Ireton and assistant baseball coach Ronald Krsolovic both attended the virtual 2021 NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar. This event, which took place over a three-day period from February 3-5, is considered a high honor and normally takes place at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis.
