2010: Led the Storm in receiving for the third straight varsity season and fourth overall as a junior... played in all 11 games, making 10 starts and earned All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honorable mention... finished the campaign with 44 receptions for 516 yards and five touchdowns... twice had two touchdown catches in a game... caught five passes for 92 yards and two scores in the near upset at nationally-ranked Hillsdale on 9/25... set season bests with nine receptions for 120 yards and also caught two touchdowns in the wild win at Findlay on 10/23... had two other game with five catches and two more with four... recorded a season-long catch of 40 yards versus Ferris State on 10/2.
2009: Was the Storm’s leader in receptions (43) and receiving touchdowns (four) in his redshirt sophomore season… finished second on the team with 493 receiving yards and averaged 11.5 yards per catch… scored touchdowns in three straight games from Oct. 3 – Oct. 17… racked up a season-high 107 yards against Salisbury on Oct. 17 and caught six passes… caught season-high seven passes against Fairmont State on Sept. 5… hauled in a 51-yard grab against Ohio Dominican on Oct. 3 – his longest of the season… had double-digit receiving yards in all but one game.
2008: Started all 11 games for the Storm in his redshirt-freshman season… led the team in catches (56), receiving yards (723) and receiving touchdowns (eight)… had nine catches for 82 yards in the first varsity football game in school history… caught a career-high 14 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown against St. Joseph’s on Sept. 20… racked up a career-high 183 yards and two touchdowns at Kentucky Wesleyan on Nov. 1… that finished a stretch of three games in which he scored five touchdowns… also had a career-long 75-yard touchdown grab on Nov. 1.
PRIOR TO LAKE ERIE: Played four years of prep ball at nearby Mentor High School – which was the OHSAA Division I runner-up twice with James at receiver… named All-Ohio top receiver three times… twice named first-team All-Lake Erie League and All-News-Herald… played in the North-South High School All-Star Game, which features the top prep players in the state… made 52 catches for 850 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior wideout for the Cardinals… also was an outfielder on the baseball team and earned First-Team All-Ohio laurels… was twice named All-LEL.
PERSONAL: Born on Oct. 3, 1988… majoring in sports management… parents are Arin and Traci Carothers… named Lake Erie College's Male Athlete of the Year in 2009-10... was a four-year letter-winner as an outfielder on the Storm baseball team… finished his diamond career as the LEC leader in 14 different categories and batted over .400 each of his final two years... was twice an all-region selection in baseball and was a first-team All-GLIAC pick and led the conference in batting as a senior.
