PAINESVILLE, OHIO – For the third straight season, Lake Erie College football games will be carried live on air by local radio station ESPN 970 WFUN AM. Serving as the Storm's flagship station, ESPN 970 will broadcast all 11 games live starting Thursday night, Sept. 1, against Gannon University. The games will also be streamed for free online at www.LakeErieStorm.com and www.espn970wfun.com.
"We're very excited to continue working with ESPN 970 as our broadcast partner," said Lake Erie Assistant Athletic Director for External Operations Jason Tirotta. "This provides us with an expanding broadcast reach to our fans in Northeastern Ohio and Northwestern Pennsylvania. Additionally, we will continue to be able to reach fans with a quality broadcast through the internet feed. Those have been two priorities for us in terms of fan experience."
Veteran play-by-play voice Craig Deas returns for his third season on the call of Storm football following the conclusion of the Lake County Captains baseball season this week. Another veteran play-by-play voice, Gary Richards, will fill in for Deas for the opener. Additionally, Star 97.1 FM midday personality Mark Richards will contribute color commentary and analysis on the broadcasts after joining the broadcast team last season.
The Department of Athletics also announced the new "Storm Report" internet coaches show will debut on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 6:30 p.m. The show, hosted by Deas and featuring interviews with players and coaches from all 23 Storm teams, will broadcast live on www.LakeErieStorm.com from the Harry Buffalo Painesville (2119 Mentor Ave.), the official postgame destination of Lake Erie Athletics.
