PAINESVILLE, Ohio— A pair of Lake Erie College football players were named to the Beyond Sports Network GLIAC Preseason All-Conference Team.
Linebacker Tanner Wells (Carrollton, Texas/Parish Episcopal) and wide receiver Tommy Jackson (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) were named to the BSN list. The pair joins five other teammates who earned preseason honors heading into the season.
Wells, a 2013 Second-Team All-GLIAC selection and a 2014 USA College Football Third-Team Preseason All-American, tallied a program-high 110 total tackles and 4.5 sacks during the 2013 season. He recorded 10 or more tackles four times, including a Lake Erie single-game high 22 against Tiffin University on November 16. In addition to his defensive prowess, Wells also served as a part-time punter and kick-off specialist.
Jackson, a Second-Team All-GLIAC selection in 2013, caught 72 passes for 937 yards and nine touchdowns. At Malone University on October 19, he caught nine passes for 172 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Against Walsh University on November 2, Jackson had 166 yards on 10 receptions with a pair of touchdowns. In addition to his receiving stats, Jackson rushed 203 yards and a two touchdowns.
The Storm open the 2014 season on the road against Ashland University on September 6.
