PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College football team announced the signing of 20 student-athletes Wednesday (Feb. 7) on National Signing Day.
The Storm signed twenty incoming student-athletes on the first day of the signing period, which included a mixture of offensive and defensive signees. 11 were signed from offensive positions with eight defensive players and one athlete. The student-athletes were signed from a variety of states including Florida, Ohio, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey and California.
"We are extremely excited about where the program is headed in year two," said Storm head coach Jerry Hazzard. "We feel like we are going to make a huge jump in the win column next season. We feel like we have a tremendous chance to make improvements in the program and we are counting down the days until the season opener versus Edinboro in September."
Below is a breakdown of the Storm signees:
Summit, Miss. / North Pike High Scool
6-3, 203 lbs.
Coaches Comments: Former D1 quarterback. Has the perfect skill set for what we want to do on offense. Can make all the throws. I'm excited to see how he competes in spring ball.
Valdosta, Ga. / Valdosta High School
5-10, 180 lbs.
Coaches Comments: Total package defensive back. He can play multiple spots. Is strong enough to play a roll down safety, is rangy enough to play deep safety and is athletic enough to play corner.
Orlando, Fla. / North Carolina State University
6-5, 242 lbs.
Coaches Comments: Former D1 defensive end. He has tremendous size and is the best pure pass rusher that we have ever recruited.
Warren, Ohio / John F. Kennedy High School
6-3, 175 lbs.
Coaches Comments: Big time playmaker for a state champion program. Has the size, hands and ability to make big plays.
Tift County Ga. / Tift County High School
5-10, 160 lbs.
Coaches Comments: Extremely versatile. Can run the ball, catches well and is a very dangerous player once he has the ball.
Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. / Palm Beach Gardens High School
6-2, 170 lbs.
Coaches Comments: Total package. Has size, is a tremendous athlete, can get down the field at a moment's notice. He will be a match up nightmare for defenses.
Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick High School
6-1, 190 lbs.
Coaches Comments: Maybe the most versatile guy in the class. Has the size and ability to play multiple spots. Can run you over but also has the ability to out run defenders.
Tampa, Fla. / Tampa Bay Technical
6-0, 170 lbs.
Coaches Comments: Latest in our Tampa Tech pipe line. Very elusive runner who is a threat to go the distance every time he touches the ball.
Akron, Ohio / Firestone High School
6-0, 320 lbs.
Coaches Comments: One of the best interior defensive lineman in Northeast Ohio. He is a tremendous athlete who can move and can make plays in the backfield.
Roselle, N.J. / Abraham Clark High School
6-3, 285 lbs.
Coaches Comments: Very physical offensive lineman. Finishes with aggression and possesses great technique in his pass sets.
Willoughby, Ohio / Willoughby South High School
6-0, 200 lbs.
Coaches Comments: Local linebacker that can line up and make plays at multiple positions. I love how physical he plays.
Oxon Hill, Md. / Potomac High School
5-10, 160 lbs.
Coaches Comments: Playmaker from the east coast! Could fill multiple roles and could be a great returner.
Tampa, Fla. / King High School
5-10, 185 lbs.
Coaches Comments: Stud and possible impact player. Has game changing ability and can score from any spot on the field. We can't wait to get him here.
Macedonia, Ohio / Nordonia

Coaches Comments: Another great local skill guy. Comes from a great program and is a deep threat on every snap. He will do a great job of stretching the field for us.

Tampa, Fla. / Hillborough High School
6-0, 285 lbs.
Coaches Comments: Very athletic and disruptive up front. He will excel when we stunt up front.
Ashland, Ohio / Ashland High School
5-9, 155 lbs.
Coaches Comments: Very durable and dependable back. Was extremely productive for his high school team. Catches the ball well and makes plays in space.
Crystal River, Fla. / Crystal River High School
6-0, 170 lbs.
Coaches Comments: Great athlete that can also play a variety of positions. He tackles extremely well in space.
Lorain, Ohio / Lorain High School

Coaches Comments: Joined us this spring. He is a big body up front who uses his hands very well.
The Storm will open the season at home on September 1st against Edinboro.
