STORM WARNING: Football Set For Clash With Kentucky Wesleyan

(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – Anticipation is high for tomorrow's football game between Lake Erie and Kentucky Wesleyan. Both teams are searching for their first win of the season with both the Storm and Panthers sporting identical 0-3 records.

The Storm are hungry for their first win after being close in each of the first three games of the season. The Green and White dropped the first two games by less than a touchdown, and were within a touchdown at the beginning of the fourth quarter against the defending conference champions before Hillsdale added a couple late touchdowns.

Both teams have some similarities in that they each have a new head coach. The Storm are guided by Reilly Murphy in his first season after being the offensive coordinator at Fayetteville State last year. The Panthers are led by Craig Yeast where he served in a similar role at Franklin College in Indiana the last three seasons.

While Lake Erie's football program is young and just in its 12th season, the series history between the Storm and Kentucky Wesleyan runs deep as the Panthers were one of the original opponents for the Green and White.

It will be just the fifth meeting all-time, but both squads battled against each other in Lake Erie's inaugural season of 2008. The Storm took that game 38-31 and also won the back end of the home-and-home agreement in 2009 with a 24-7 victory in Painesville. The series resumed in 2017 after the Storm joined the G-MAC and defeated the Panthers 45-27. Kentucky Wesleyan took home the victory last year with a 46-6 triumph in Owensboro.

Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. with broadcast coverage available on the Great Midwest Digital Network. Tickets are $10 with Lake Erie College students, staff, and faculty allowed in free with their LEC Storm ID card.
