Storm Tops Urbana to Win Fourth Straight Home Game

PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The Lake Erie Storm tied school records for offensive rebounds and total rebounds in its 77-68 win over Urbana at the Jerome T. Osborne Family Athletic & Wellness Center on Saturday (Feb. 13) afternoon. It was the Storm's third straight win overall and fourth in a row at the Osborne Center, where Lake Erie is 7-3 this season.
The Storm (9-15) limited the Blue Knights to just 31 percent (23-for-74) shooting for the game, the second straight time Lake Erie has held an opponent to 31 percent or less.
Despite shooting just 28 percent (19-for-67) from its own offensive end, Lake Erie was able to match a school record with 26 offensive rebounds, while holding a 24-17 advantage in second chance.
The Storm also established a new school record for free throws attempted in a game, knocking down 36-of-50 (72 percent) from the line to offset the struggling offense. Lake Erie also tied school-record for offensive rebounds (26) and total rebounds (59).
Urbana (13-11) held a 5-0 lead early in the game, but once the Storm cut into that lead, neither team held more than a three-point advantage for the rest of the half. Lake Erie took a 31-30 lead into the intermission on an offensive rebound tip-in by sophomore forward Matt Grendel (Independence, Ohio/Independence).
Grendel set career-highs with 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Storm as one of three players to collect double-digit boards.

Senior forward Darnell Campbell (Cleveland, Ohio/Collinwood) notched his fifth double-double in 2010 with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman center Garrick Sims (Barberton, Ohio/Barberton) grabbed 11 rebounds to go with six points.
The Storm established control early in the second half, going on a 12-2 run in the first five minutes to take a 43-32 lead. Junior guard Ethan Bradshaw (Cincinnati, Ohio/Harmony Prep) hit five free throws in that span, including one that came on a four-point play after hitting a three-pointer from the left wing. Campbell powerful two-handed slam, though, was the highlight of the game's critical stretch.
Bradshaw finished with 24 points in the game, including 20 in the second half and 15 free throws. It was the fourth time in the last six games that the 6-foot-1 shooter has finished with 20 points. The Storm used Bradshaw's proficiency from the line to build a lead as large as 14, before claiming the nine-point win.
Robert Wilson had a team-high 19 points and a game-high 14 rebounds for Urbana, which had its four-game winning streak snapped.
The Storm returns to the floor on Monday (Feb. 15) for a 7 p.m. affair at Gannon, the site of the Storm's lone road win this season. Lake Erie beat the Golden Knights, 59-45, on Nov. 27.
