STORM LOOKS TO UPSET DI POWER: Lake Erie College opens its 2011-12 campaign with the tough task of traveling to NCAA Division I University of Detroit Mercy, Friday November 11.
2011-12 STORM SEASON: Lake Erie is looking to build on a 7-19 (3-16 GLIAC) campaign as it enters its second season in the GLIAC. The Storm returns four starters and seven of its top eight rotational players from a season ago, with five players who scored at least 5.9 points per game. The team is looking to replace its top scorer from last season, All-GLIAC South Division Second Team selection Ethan Bradshaw.
OPPONENT OUTLOOK: Detroit returns all five starters from a team which went 17-16 overall and 10-8 in the Horizon League a season ago. The Titans were picked to finish second in the league behind national runner-up Butler and just ahead of Cleveland State. They are led by sophomore preseason conference player of the year and James Naismith Award preseason watch list selection Ray McCallum, the son of Head Coach Ray McCallum.
SERIES HISTORY: This is the first meeting between these schools. Lake Erie's previous matchup against a Division I team came Feb. 2, 2009 at South Dakota. The Storm fell in that matchup, 85-52, in their first season as a member of NCAA Division II.
