STORM GOES FOR TWO STRAIGHT AGAINST MALONE: The Lake Erie College men's basketball team is looking for its second straight home victory as it faces Malone University (2-0).  The Storm (1-1) lost in their season opener last Friday at NCAA Division I University of Detroit Mercy, 95-57 but bounced back at home Tuesday with a 86-77 win against Salem International University.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE STORM: Lake Erie used a balanced attack to outlast Salem International, 86-77, in its home opener Tuesday.

For the first time since the 2009-10 season, the Storm had five members score in double figures.  Sophomore Rich Austin (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Ignatius) led with a team-high 19 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. That was one of several career-highs on the night as senior guard Brandon Smith (Bedford, Ohio/Bedford/Cuyahoga Community College) matched his previous high with 16 points and junior guard Alex Davis (Macedonia, Ohio/Nordonia) set a new personal mark with 13 points, 11 of which came in the second half.  Junior forward Eric Worthey (South Euclid, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) recorded his first double-double with a career-high 10 boards and 11 points and sophomore Riley Thomas (Cardington, Ohio/Cardington-Lincoln) also reached double figures with 13 points.

Lake Erie shot a superb 56.0% (28-of-50) from the field while holding Salem to 24-of-64 (37.5%).  Eighteen offense rebounds helped keep the Tigers in the contest but they were plagued by a 21-of-41 (51.2%) effort from the free throw line.  The Storm held a 46-28 advantage in points in the paint.

AUSTIN ALL-IN: Sophomore Rich Austin has made a huge leap after a solid freshman season.  Austin is averaging 20.0 ppg. and 8.5 rpg through two games after averaging 6.0 ppg. last season.

SERIES NOTES: These two teams have met just once previously, as Lake Erie took a 59-52 win at Malone on Dec. 13, 2008.

NOT NONCONFERENCE RIVALS FOR LONG: While these schools have met just once previously, Lake Erie will be seeing Malone frequently in men's basketball and most sports for the foreseeable future.  That is because on October 31, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced that it was expanding to include two new full-time members - Malone University and Walsh University - effective July 1, 2012.

OPPOSITION POSITION: With an incredible 71-game home winning streak on the line and a 105-game regular-season home streak since the 2003-04 season, #7 University of Findlay hosted Malone Tuesday night and  the Pioneers stunned the Oilers 74-71.
