STORM GOES FOR THREE STRAIGHT AGAINST MERCYHURST: The Lake Erie College men's basketball team is looking for its third straight home victory as it faces Malone University (3-0).  The Storm (2-1) lost in their season opener at NCAA Division I University of Detroit Mercy, 95-57 but has bounced back with a pair of home wins, 86-77 against Salem International and 72-61 vs. Malone. 

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE STORM: Lake Erie trailed by seven points with under seven minutes to play but an 11-0 run helped the Storm outscore visiting Malone University (2-1), 23-5 to close the game and earn a 72-61 victory at the Jerome T. Osborne Family Athletic & Wellness Center.

The Storm scoring attack was led by sophomore guard Nate Tait (South Euclid, OH/Brush), who ended the day with a career-high 23 points.  Junior Eric Worthey (South Euclid, OH/CVCA) recorded his second career double-double in as many games to finish with 16 points and 11 rebounds and sophomore Rich Austin (Cleveland, OH/St. Ignatius) nearly joined him with nine points, all coming in the second half, and 10 boards.  Sophomore Riley Thomas (Cardington, Ohio/Cardington-Lincoln) chipped in with 13 points as well. 21-of-41 (51.2%) effort from the free throw line.  The Storm held a 46-28 advantage in points in the paint.

AUSTIN ALL-IN: Sophomore Rich Austin has made a huge leap after a solid freshman season.  Austin is averaging 16.3 ppg. and 9.0 rpg through three games after averaging 6.0 ppg. last season.

WORTHEY WONDERS: Junior forward Eric Worthey recorded his first two career double-doubles in back-to-back games last week. Worthey posted 11 points and a then career-high 10 rebounds in a 86-77 win over Salem International Tuesday. On Saturday, Worthey tied his career-high with 16 points and set a new career-high with 11 rebounds in a 72-61 win over Malone. Worthey was active all over the court with six steals, four assists and a block on the week.

SERIES NOTES: Last season was the first meeting between these schools, with Mercyhurst earning a 92-66 home victory.
