STORM LOOKS FOR FIRST GLIAC WIN ON THE ROAD: The Lake Erie College men's basketball team is looking to get on the board in GLIAC play as it hits the road for the first time since its season opener against Ashland University (3-4, 0-2 GLIAC). The Storm (3-3, 0-2 GLIAC) lost a pair of tight home games to GLIAC South frontrunners Wayne State University, 67-56, and Hillsdale College, 62-56, last weekend. Prior to that, Lake Erie had a three-game winning streak with home wins against Salem International (86-77), Malone University (72-61), and Mercyhurst College, (67-51).

HOME HELPINGS: Today's game will be Lake Erie's first away game since its season-opening loss at Detroit on Nov. 11. Since then, the Storm has been home for five straight games.

SERIES NOTES: These teams met twice last season as Ashland was victorious in the final minutes both times. In the inaugural meeting on Dec. 11, 2010, Lake Erie led by 11 points deep in the second half but fell 68-64 in Painesville. In Ashland on Feb. 26 2011, the Eagles hit a three-pointer with five seconds to play for a 64-63 victory.

OPPOSITION POSITION: Ashland is looking for its first GLIAC victory as well after falling to Hillsdale, 70-43, and Wayne State, 75-66, at home last weekend. The Eagles faced Wilberforce University Wednesday in a 89-68 win.

LAST TIME OUT: Lake Erie College was able to cut a 14-point deficit to a single point but could not get over the hump as it fell to Hillsdale 62-56 last Saturday.  The Storm was led by sophomore Riley Thomas (Cardington, Ohio/ Cardington-Lincoln) with 12 points. Following close behind was sophomore center Rich Austin (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Ignatius), who reached double-digits for the fifth time in six games with 11 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. It was a balanced effort for the Lake Erie as seven players scored at least five points.

AUSTIN ALL-IN: Sophomore Rich Austin has made a huge leap after a solid freshman season. Austin is averaging 14.0 ppg. and 8.2 rpg. He has reached double figure scoring in five of the six games this season. The St. Ignatius grad averaged 6.0 ppg. as a freshman.

A LOOK AHEAD: The Storm is off until Saturday, Dec. 17 when they face another conference road test at Northwood University with a 7:30 p.m. start.
