Men's Basketball Exhibition Schedule Features Wilmington, Division I Cleveland State

PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- The Lake Erie College men's basketball team announced its exhibition schedule for the 2013-14 season Friday (Sept. 20), as the Storm will play a pair of games prior to the start of the regular season.

Lake Erie will host Wilmington College on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 7:30 p.m. and play at Division I Cleveland State University Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Wilmington, one of the favorites in the Ohio Athletic Conference, is coached by K.C. Hunt, son of Storm head coach Cliff Hunt. The Quakers, who reached the Division III national tournament's second round in 2010, were 14-13 a year ago and return a veteran team led by two-time All-OAC first-team selection Malcolm Heard II.

The Storm will travel the short distance to downtown Cleveland and the Wolstein Center to face a Cleveland State squad that has qualified for postseason play three times in the past five seasons.  The Vikings are coming off a disappointing 14-18 season.

"We're very excited about our exhibition schedule because these two games will be a great opportunity to see where we are at as team at that time of the year," said Cliff Hunt who will be beginning his ninth season at the helm of the Storm. "To play a quality opponent like Cleveland State and take our team on the road early and see what our strengths and weaknesses are is a very big opportunity for us.

"The Wilmington game will be a good test against an experience team, one that is favored to be one of top teams in OAC. And with K.C. as the opposing coach, it should be a fun game."

Following the two exhibition games, the Storm will officially open the season Nov. 8-9 at the Kentucky Wesleyan College Glenn Young Invitational. Lake Erie will play Davis & Elkins College in the opening game Friday, Nov. 8.
