BAY CITY, Mich.--The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) released its Preseason Media Poll, as well as the Preseason All-GLIAC Teams, on Thursday (Nov. 7) to launch the 2013-14 Men's Basketball Media Day.
The Lake Erie College men were voted to finish sixth in the South Division and senior guard Riley Thomas (Cardington, Ohio/Cardington-Lincoln) was selected to the South Division All-GLIAC Second Team.
The Storm received 45 votes in the South. 2013 GLIAC champion University of Findlay, led by preseason GLIAC Player of the Year Greg Kahlig, was selected to finish first in the division, receiving all 24 first-place votes. Hillsdale College and Ashland University were selected to finish second and third in the division respectively. In the North, Wayne State University was selected to finish first, receiving 10 first-place votes. Grand Valley State University (six), Michigan Technological University (five) and Ferris State University (three) also received first-place votes and rounded out the top four.
In addition to the poll, Thomas was named to the Preseason South Division All-GLIAC Second Team. Thomas led the Storm with 12.8 ppg. in 2012-13.
The Storm kick-off the 2013-14 season Friday (Nov. 8) in Owensboro, Ky. for a neutral site match against Davis and Elkins College before playing host school Kentucky Wesleyan College the following day (Nov. 9).
