The Lake Erie College men's basketball team hosts Malone University Thursday (Jan. 14) before traveling to Canton to face Walsh University Saturday (Jan. 16).

"Our game against Malone this Thursday is the beginning of the 14 game GLIAC South schedule," said Storm Head Coach Cliff Hunt.  "I hope our guys understand how good Malone is even though they have not yet gotten a GLIAC win.  They have been in every game and are primarily the same team that beat us twice last season.  Malone's post Brian Stone is leading the GLIAC in FG % and is a real force inside.  They are a very good offensive team and we need to defend and rebound. Walsh is in third in the South right now and one of the teams we need to catch.  Their guard Jesse Hardin put up 45 on Ferris State last week and he is just one player on a very talented team.  We have our work cut out for us."

LAST TIME OUT: The Storm defeated Northern Michigan University 63-54 last Saturday (Jan. 9) in Painesville. Sean Howard ended the game with a team-high 15 points to go with four assists and two steals.  Andy Bosley was also in double-digits with 11 points to go with a team-high four steals.  Michael Morris finished with eight points, four rebounds and three assists.  Roy Alexander had three rebounds and three assists.  Lake Erie shot 43.8% (21-of-48) from the floor, including 55% (11-of-20) in the second half.  The Storm forced 15 Wildcat turnovers while committing just six.  The turnovers resulted in 19 points for the Storm.  Of the Storm's 63 points, 18 came off the bench.

SERIES HISTORY: The Storm is 5-3 overall against Malone.  The Pioneers have won the last two contests however.  Against Walsh, the Storm is 1-5 all-time.  The Cavaliers picked up two wins over the Storm last season.

OPPOSITION POSITION: The Pioneers enter the game with a 3-10 overall record and a 0-8 mark in GLIAC play.  They have lost their last nine games, with their last win coming back in late November.  This past weekend they fell to Grand Valley State University and Ferris State University.  Nate Sheppard leads the Pioneer offense averaging 17.8 points per game while Brian Stone is averaging 16.1 points.  Walsh enters the game with a 6-6 overall record and a 4-4 mark in GLIAC play.  The Cavaliers are coming off a win over Ferris State this past weekend.  Jesse Harding leads the Cavalier offense averaging 20.0 points per game.

FORECAST: The Storm is on the road next weekend at Wayne State University and Tiffin University.
