PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College men's basketball team will open their 2017-18 campaign Friday (Nov.10) when they travel to take on Ashland and Sunday (Nov.12) when they host Tiffin. The games are set to tip off at 7 p.m. and 12 p.m. respectively, and both games are a part of the G-MAC/GLIAC Challenge.
The Storm basketball program and everyone at Lake Erie would like to send our thoughts and well wishes to Nick Baspt. Nick is a junior on the Ashland basketball team who had health complications during a preseason scrimmage. Nick has been in our thoughts and we wish him a full recovery.
Storm Report: The Storm was tabbed to finish ninth in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference and will open the season with the Eagles. Head Coach Kyle Conley said "Our goal this preseason was to improve on a daily basis. In 19 practices and three scrimmages, we accomplished our goal, and we are prepared for the challenge ahead of us this weekend".
Opposition Position: The Eagles were tabbed to win the South division of their conference. Coach Conley said "Coach Ellenwood is tremendous and has helped Ashland turn the corner as a program. The Eagles have three veteran, All-Conference type players. We need to limit them to one shot and be relentless on defense. The Dragons are selected to finish sixth in the GLIAC South. Coach Conley added "We expect Tiffin to be a good team as they have plenty of talent, and are lead by Austin Adams who is one of the best players we will see at his position all year".
Coach Conley concluded "We need to play with toughness, and execute on both ends. We must value the ball, and finish each defensive possession".
Forecast: Lake Erie will return to the court Tuesday (Nov.14) when they host Point Park University, with the game set to tip off at 7 p.m.
