Storm Set for Great Midwest Quarterfinals (Preview)

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College men's basketball team will be in action Thursday (March 1) when they travel to Findlay to take on Walsh in the quarterfinals of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament.  The game is set to tip at 12 p.m.

Storm Report:  The Storm is 15-13 overall and 10-10 in Great Midwest conference action.  The Storm closed the season out on a three game winning streak.  Head Coach Kyle Conley said, "Finishing the regular season over .500 and getting to the GMAC Tournament were goas for our team and we are excited to be extending our season.  I am happy with the way we finished the regular season and hope that the positive momentum carries over into the tournament."

Opposition Position: The Cavaliers are 19-7 overall and 14-6 in conference action, and are coming off a loss to Lake Erie in the season finale.  Coach Conley added, "Walsh is one of the best rebounding teams in the country, to beat Walsh you must hold your own on the boards. Walsh has multiple offensive scoring threats, but it starts with Chandler Vaudrin.  Chandler is one of our leagues best players.  If you can't slow him down they become extremely difficult to beat."

Coach Conley concluded, "Having beaten Walsh twice gives our team some confidence, but doesn't play too much into this game Thursday.  I expect both teams to play extremely hard and compete to advance."

Forecast: The winner will move on to play on Friday (March 2) in the Semifinal game, against the winner of the Alderson Broaddus and Hillsdale.

Ticket Information: A total of 300 general admission tickets are guaranteed for each participating school. For sessions 1 and 2 (First day of competition) individuals may call (419-434-4663) prior to Thursday March 1 until 9:00 AM to reserve tickets.
