Men's Basketball Selected Sixth In G-MAC

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Lake Erie men's basketball team has been picked sixth in the 2018-19 Great Midwest Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll presented by Under Armour. The Storm received 101 points and one first place pick in the voting.

The Storm, led by Head Coach Kyle Conley, had a season record of 16-14 and included a 10-10 finish in conference play for the 2017-2018 season. Lake Erie went into the G-MAC tournament as the No. 7 seed and defeated No. 2 Walsh for the third time that season to reach the semifinals.

Gabe Kynard (Jr.) will return for the Storm for the 2018-2019 season. Last season, Kynard averaged 15.6 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game, both tops on the team, to be named on the G-MAC All-Conference Team as an honorable mention.

Also returning for the Storm are Jordan Humphrey (Jr.) and Brogan Scott (Sr.). Humphrey averaged 8.9 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. He was tabbed G-MAC Player of the Week once last year after helping the Storm win games on the road at Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins with 18.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. For Scott, he averaged 7.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game for the Storm in the season.

"We like our team. They are an experienced group that is focused on our daily improvement," said Coach Conley. "I expect the league to be extremely competitive top to bottom.  There are a number of talented teams that are capable of winning this league."

The Storm open up the 2018-2019 season at home in the Osborne Family Wellness Center against Ashland University on Friday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m.
