Late Rally Not Enough For Storm At ODU

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Lake Erie was narrowly edged out by Ohio Dominican by a score of 83-78 in Alumni Hall on Saturday afternoon. The loss ended the Storm's (6-4, 3-1) perfect conference mark and had their three-game win streak snapped at the hands of the Panthers (6-3, 2-1).

After trailing by 13 midway through the second half, the Storm started to chip away at the Panther lead. They cut it to a two-point game after Jordan Humphrey scored a layup to make the score 77-75 with 2:02 to go.

But the comeback attempt came up just short as ODU held the Storm at arm's length. After the Panthers' 30-second timeout following Humphrey's bucket, Ohio Dominican eventually added a layup of its own to go back up four. Both teams exchanged the next two buckets before Gabe Kynard made it a three-point game at the foul line, however the hosts were able to make their final two foul shots in the final seconds to close the game.

Kynard finished with 24 points with a pair of 3-pointers to lead the Storm. Lake Erie ended up shooting 46.4 percent from the field. Brogan Scott and Humphrey joined him in double figures with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Ohio Dominican was hot the entire day as it made 57.4 percent in the game. Four Panthers scored in double figures led by Matt King with 19 points on 7-of-9 from the field. Hasan Varence added 18 on 7-of-11 on the day.

The Storm will be back on the road the rest of the month and make the trek to Michigan this Thursday. Tip-off against the Chargers is set for 7:30 p.m.
