PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- After scoring three goals in an 8-7 win over Dominican College, including the game winner in double overtime, Lake Erie College sophomore Keegan Bal (Coquitlam, B.C./Centennial Secondary) was named the East Coast Conference Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week. The announcement came from the league office on Monday (April 25).
Bal scored three goals in a contest for the second straight game and has scored in each of the last 10 games for the Storm (5-6, 2-5 ECC). His first two goals against Dominican on Thursday (April 21) tied the score and his game-winner came with just 57 seconds left in the second extra period.
He also had an assist in the game for his third straight four-point game. He has scored three or more goals in a game four times this season and eight times overall.
As a freshman, Bal led the first-year program with 29 goals and 40 points. He again tops the team this year with 22 goals and 27 total points.
Lake Erie, which has already surpassed its overall and conference win totals from its first year as a varsity program in 2010, is at Wheeling Jesuit University for an ECC contest Thursday night, April 28, and hosts perennial national power New York Institute of Technology Sunday, May 1 at Britt Stadium.
