Late Goal Dooms Lake Erie At Roberts Wesleyan

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - The Lake Erie men's lacrosse team suffered a heartbreaking 13-12 defeat to Roberts Wesleyan this afternoon. The Storm (2-8) was up one after Tim Bay goal with 5:03 remaining, but the Redhawks (5-5) tied it up a short while later and scored the game-winner with six seconds left on the clock.

The Green and White held the advantage early thanks to three Matt Cromie goals that propelled the Storm to a 6-0 lead. The Redhawks began to chip away at that lead at the start of the second quarter, but goals by Tim Bay and Kyle Barna gave Lake Erie an 8-6 halftime advantage.

Roberts eventually tied the game with a pair of goals in the third before Lake Erie regained the lead on a Blain Wallace strike at 5:45 left in the frame. Momentum never fully swant in the direction of the Storm as each goal in the fourth was answered by the Redhawks which led to the finish.

Tim Bay led the offense with three goals and two assists for five points. In addition to Cromie's three goals, Wallace also added three points on two goals and an assist.

Conor Sharkey took the loss between the pipes despite being .500 on save percentage with 13 saves. Mack Fall led the defense with five ground balls, while Patrick Bay and Bret Swan added four each.

The Storm will return home for a Saturday showdown with Seton Hill. It will be Senior Night for the Green and White with face-off set for 7 p.m.
