After being hired as head men's soccer coach in January, Lake Erie College's Davie Carmichael wasted no time hitting the recruiting trail and the payoff will be seen this Fall as the Storm welcomes 25 newcomers to their program.
"Last year we struggled early in the season after losing a few keys players to injury and that puts a lot of pressure on our developing players and small squad," said Carmichael, who served as the graduate assistant for the men's soccer team these past two seasons. "A larger roster will allow us to rotate players in and out and rest key players leading up-to important conference games. It will also create a competitive atmosphere at practice and allow us to open up our sessions and create game like conditions."
The squad, which graduated eight of its 18 members from a season ago, will be relying heavily on this recruiting class along with its returners.
"A lot of the incoming players are versatile which will provide us with different options, cover and depth in certain areas," explained Carmichael. "Pre-season will be a very important period for the returning and incoming players to gel"
