Storm Clinch GLIAC Playoff Berth With Win Over Walsh

NORTH CANTON, Ohio-- The Lake Erie College men's soccer team punched their ticket to the Great Lakes Intercollegaite Athletic Conference (GLIAC) playoffs Friday night (Oct. 25), defeating Walsh University 4-1.

Ryan Gibson (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Scioto) scored the first goal for the Storm in the fourth minute to give the Storm an early 1-0 advantage.  Cory Bucur (Bedford, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) notched the Storm's second goal of the half just three minutes later to give Lake Erie a two goal advantage. The Storm continued to pour in the goals as  Alfred Majer (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) made the match 3-0 in the 20th minute.  A Cavalier goal by Evan Heiss cut the Storm lead to two at the half.

Stuart Campbell (Glassgow, Scotland/Glassgow Academy) notched a second half goal, assisted by Kenneth Kolke (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) to seal the win and secure the playoff berth for the Storm.

Filip Ljubevski (Ajax, Ont./Pikering), the defending GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week, made seven saves in net for the Storm in the win.

The Storm conclude the 2013 regular season next Friday (Nov. 1), hosting Malone University on Senior Day.
