PAINESVILLE, Ohio – Three Lake Erie players have been named to the 2013 All-Ohio Division II Soccer Team. Defender Ryan Gibson, forward Alfred Majer and midfielder Anthony Novak were named to the squad in a ballot of coaches in the Buckeye State.
"All three of these players are deserving of this recognition," said Storm Head Coach Davie Carmichael. "They consistently displayed strong performances throughout the season and are part of a strong core for our program."
The Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association runs the balloting for the All-Ohio team.
Gibson – a sophomore from Dublin, Ohio – registered a pair of goals and four assists en route to posting an All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Second Team performance in a 2013 season that saw the Storm go 8-8-2 and advance to the GLIAC tournament semifinals. The All-Ohio nod was Gibson's second; he was a member of the 2012 All-Ohio Second Team.
Majer – a junior from Mentor, Ohio – tallied a team-high eight goals in 2013. Majer was tabbed as a 2013 Second-Team All-GLIAC selection. His eight netfinders marked the most by an LEC player since 2010.
Novak – a sophomore from Toronto – logged a goal and two assists in the fall. He scored the game-winner in a Sept. 22 victory over ranked (No. 23) Ohio Dominican.
"These guys are very technical players, and they impact games," said Carmichael. "All three will be returnees in 2014, so we look forward to more."
