Storm Fall to Salem International University, 1-0

PAINESVILLE, Ohio- Lake Erie College was defeated by Salem International University, 1-0.  With the loss the storm are 1-1 on the season, and the Tigers improve to 1-0 overall.

Salem International scored the lone goal of the game in the first half on a penalty kick to give them a 1-0 advantage in the 25th minute. 

The second half of the game was hard fought.  The storm rattled the frame twice sending shots off the cross bar and post, but were unable to find the back of the net.   

Senior forward Alfred Majer (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) hit the cross bar, and junior defender Joseph Coombs hit the post off a header late in the game for Lake Erie College.     

In goal for the storm was junior Filip Ljubevski (Ajax, Ont. / Pikering) he faced 13 shots six of which were on goal, and made five saves.  Ljubevski made a big save in the second half on a penalty kick which kept the score at 1-0. 

The Storm will be back in action on Friday (September 12th) as the host Ohio Dominican to open GLIAC conference play.  The game will take place in Painesville, Ohio at 5 P.M. on Slattery Field.
