Storm Falls to Northwood, 1-0

MIDLAND, Mich.- The Lake Erie College men's soccer was defeated today (October 3rd) by Northwood University, 1-0. With the loss the Storm fall to 3-4-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the conference, and with the win Northwood improves to 5-2-1 overall and 3-2-1 in conference play.    

The first half was a hard fought scoreless battle, in which both teams had opportunities to score.  Both teams had opportunities on corner kicks with each team taking two corners in the first half.

The scoreless draw was broken late in the second half when Andrew Nugent scored off of an assist by Mayowa Olufeko to give a 1-0 advantage to Northwood University

In net for the Storm was junior Filip Ljubevski (Ajax, Ont. / Pikering) he faced 12 shots, four of which were on goal, made three saves, and allowed one goal. Ljubevski saved a penalty kick early in the second half to keep his team in the game.    

Lake Erie College will be back in action when they travel to Michigan to take on Saginaw Valley on Sunday (October 5th) at 2:30 P.M.
