FINDLAY, Ohio- The Lake Erie College men's soccer team defeated the University of Findlay today (October 17th), 3-2. With the win the Storm is now 5-4-2 overall and 4-3-2 in the conference, and Findlay falls to 3-9 overall and 2-7 in conference play.
Lake Erie College opened the scoring in the 12th minute when senior midfielder Cory Bucar (Bedford, Ohio / St. Peter Chanel) scored off an assist by junior midfielder Anthony Novak (Toronto, Ont. / St. Mary Catholic) to make the score 1-0.
The Oilers evened the score when Mark Sleasman scored on an assist from Jordan Gozelski to make the score 1-1.
The Storm regained their advantage in the second half when freshman forward Joseph Munaretto (Wickliffe, Ohio / Riverside) netted a shot off a pass from freshman midfielder Chad Bencina (Willoughby, Ohio / Willoughby South) to make the score, 2-1.
Findlay made the score 2-2 when Gozelski scored an unassisted goal at the 69 minute mark.
The Storm won the game in the final minute of the game when Joseph Coombs (Knutsford, England / Holmes Chapel Sixth Form) scored off of an assist by junior midfielder Ryan Gibson (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Scioto) to give the Storm a 3-2 victory.
In net for Lake Erie College was junior Filip Ljubevski (Ajax, Ont. / Pikering) he faced 10 shots, five of which were on goal, made three saves, and allowed two goals.
The Storm is back in action Friday (October 17th) when they travel to Michigan to take on Saginaw Valley St. University at 1 P.M.
