CANTON, Ohio – The Lake Erie College men's soccer team was victorious today over Walsh University, 6-0. With the win the Storm improves to 7-7-1 overall and 7-5-1 in the conference and with the loss the Cavaliers fall 3-13 overall and 1-12 in conference play.
Lake Erie jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage when Anthony Novak (Toronto, Ont. / St. Mary Catholic) found the back of the net off of an assist by Samuel Mutemwa (Johannesburg, South Africa / Sandringham High School). The Storm added to their lead when Novak scored his second goal of the game off of an assist by Joseph Munaretto (Wickliffe, Ohio / Riverside), to make the score 2-0 in favor of the Storm.
In the second half Novak scored for a third time off of a rebound and gave the Storm a 3-0 advantage. Lake Erie continued to dominate when Stuart Campbell (Glassgow, Scotland / Glassgow Academy) scored off of a free kick, to give the Storm a 4-0 lead. Lake Erie continued to add on the goals when Andrew Bucur (Bedford, Ohio / St. Peter Chanel) scored off of an assist by Miquel Espinoza (Perry, Ohio / Perry), to give the Storm a 5-0 lead. Jordan Beasley (Cheltenham / Walled Lake Western) gave the Storm a 6-0 advantage on an unassisted goal, and the Lake Erie won 6-0.
In net for the Storm was Hugo Fauruox (Cannes, France / Lycee Bristol) he faced eight shots, three of which were on goal, made three saves, and allowed zero goals.
Lake Erie will be back in action Friday (October 30th) when they host Ohio Dominican at 1 P.M.
