Lake Erie Travels to Northern Michigan for GLIAC Match (Preview)

PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College men's soccer team will complete the second leg of their GLIAC road trip with a matchup at Northern Michigan on Friday (Sept. 16). The game against the Wildcats will kick off at 4:00 PM.

Coach Brenner's Take: "With the short recovery window between GLIAC games this year, we have really put some focus on recovery and regeneration! Ashland and Northern Michigan will be two formidable opponents that have good coaching and players ready to prove themselves in the league. We need to be on top of our game and display the confidence and mindset we showed against the University of Findlay."

Storm Report: The Storm enters the game with a 4-1 record overall and a 2-1 record in the GLIAC. Lake Erie defeated Ashland 1-0 on Wednesday (Sept. 14). Gabriel Ferreira (Cuiaba, Brazil/Rabun Gap Nacoohee School) scored the goal on a header from a Ben Phillips (Manchester, England/College of St. Scholastica) corner kick.

GLIAC Honorable Mention: After the Storm's 1-1 weekend, two Lake Erie players were named to the GLIAC Honorable Mention list. Jesse Schluter was named to the GLIAC Honorable Mention list for offense. After the shutout on Sunday, goalkeeper Hugo Faroux (Cannes, France/Lycee Bristol) was named to the HM list on defense.

NSCAA Rankings: Lake Erie has moved up to #7 in the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) rankings for the Division 2-Midwest region this week. The Storm was #8 last week.

Series History: The Storm and the Wildcats have never faced off in a match despite being in the GLIAC.

Opposition Position: The Wildcats enter the matchup with a 0-3 record. Northern Michigan dropped a 1-0 decision to Ohio Dominican on Sunday (Sept. 11).

Storm Forecast: The Storm will return home to the Britt for a two game homestand against Saginaw Valley State and Northwood next week.
