PAINESVILLE, Ohio-The Lake Erie College men's soccer team battled the defending GLIAC champions, the Northwood Timberwolves for two overtime periods. The game ended in a scoreless draw on Sunday (Sept. 25) afternoon at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium.
With the draw, the Storm's record is now 5-2-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the GLIAC.
"I thought the players responded well after a disappointing result Friday night. Credit to the team for coming out and dominating large portions of the game today against the defending league champions. I thought we deserved the win today and were the better team for the majority of the game. We need to now turn our attention quickly to recovery and preparation for Wednesday night at ODU as we know there is no easy game in the GLIAC," said Storm head coach Kevin Brenner after the game.
Neither team was able to break the defensive front enough to get on the board in the game. Northwood outshot the Storm 14-7, including 2-0 in the overtime periods.
Hugo Fauroux (Cannes, France / Lycee Bristol) made six saves in the goal, keeping the Timberwolves off of the scoreboard.
The Storm will travel to Ohio Dominican on Wednesday (Sept. 28) for a GLIAC matchup.
