PAINESVILLE, Ohio-The Lake Erie College men's soccer looks to get back on the winning track as they travel to Ohio Dominican University for a midweek GLIAC matchup on Wednesday (Sept. 28) night.
Coach Brenner's Take: "We know the importance of tomorrow's game and understand that there is no easy game in the GLIAC. The players need to continue the great play we displayed against a very good Northwood team this past Sunday."
Storm Report: Lake Erie enters the matchup with the Panthers with a 5-2-1 record overall for the season. The Storm currently holds a 3-2-1 GLIAC record. In the last match, Lake Erie battled defending GLIAC champions, Northwood to a scoreless draw in two overtimes.
GLIAC Honorable Mention: For last week, two Storm players were named to the GLIAC Honorable Mention list. On offense, Max Maguire (Letchworth, England/Hitchin College) was named Honorable Mention after he scored a goal in the Storm's 2-1 overtime loss to Saginaw Valley State on Friday (Sept. 23). Hugo Fauroux (Cannes, France/ Lycee Bristol) made 13 saves and allowed two goals in two games over the weekend, and was named to the Defensive Honorable Mention list.
NSCAA Rankings: Lake Erie dropped to tenth in the latest edition of the DII Midwest Region NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) rankings. Lake Erie was ranked sixth last week before dropping four spots.
Series History: Over the last six years, the Storm and the Panthers have faced off 13 times on the field. Ohio Dominican leads the series 2-10-1 so far. Last year, Ohio Dominican defeated the Storm 3-2 in one matchup. The teams tied in the other matchup.
Opposition Position: The Panthers enter the game Wednesday with a 2-5 record overall and 2-3 mark in the conference. Ohio Dominican dropped a 2-1 decision to Ashland in their last game, their fourth straight loss.
Storm Forecast: Lake Erie will travel to face Walsh University on Sunday (Oct. 2).
