MIDLAND, Mich.- The Lake Erie College Storm men's soccer team fell behind early and the Northwood University Timberwolves held the Storm the rest of the game as Northwood defeated the Storm 1-0 on Sunday (Oct. 23) afternoon.
The loss dropped the Storm to 7-6-3 overall and 5-6-3 in the GLIAC. With two regular season games left, Lake Erie is tied with Ohio Dominican for the fourth seed in the GLIAC.
In the ninth minute, Connor Cole cleaned up a loose ball from a Timberwolves' free kick. Cole's third goal of the season put Northwood up 1-0.
Northwood took seven shots, compared to Lake Erie's four in the first half.
Lake Erie had the shot advantage in the second half, 4-3, but the Storm could not crack the Northwood defense to tie up the game. The final shot total was 10-8 in favor of the Timberwolves.
Hugo Fauroux (Cannes, France / Lycee Bristol) made six saves in the game with one goal allowed.
The Storm will host Ohio Dominican on Wednesday (Oct. 26) night in a key GLIAC matchup.
