Five Honored with All-Ohio Honors by OCSA

PAINESVILLE, Ohio- Five members of the Lake Erie College men's soccer team with accolades from the coaches of the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association on Monday (Dec. 19).

"I am extremely proud of not only the recognized players but also the whole entire team for their dedication and work in the classroom and on the soccer field," said Storm head coach Kevin Brenner. We, as a program, stress the importance of being a student and then a Division II athlete."

Three members of the Storm were honored with All-Ohio honors and three were named to the Academic All-Ohio teams, selected by the OCSA. One player, midfielder Samuel Mutemwa ((Johannesburg, South Africa / Sandringham), was named to both, the All-Ohio and Academic All-Ohio Teams.

Defenseman Jesse Schluter (Boksee, Germany / Kathe-Kollwikz- School) was named to the All-Ohio Division II First Team by the OCSA. Schluter, a freshman, scored three goals in his first collegiate season along with being a part of the Storm defense that made ten shutouts throughout the season. Schluter was honored with All-GLIAC First Team honors at the GLIAC Tournament in October.

Goalkeeper Hugo Fauroux (Cannes, France / Lycee Bristol) was honored with a spot on the All-Ohio Division II Second Team. Fauroux, the GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year, was second in the GLIAC with a goal against average of .84. In 17 games, Fauroux finished with nine shutouts, part of a school-record ten shutouts.

Mutemwa (Johannesburg, South Africa / Sandringham) was named to both the All-Ohio Division II Second Team and Academic All-Ohio First Teams for his 2016 performance, on and off the field. He was also named to the All-GLIAC Second Team as a midfielder. In 14 games, Mutemwa scored one goal and assisted on three goals.

Defenseman Kenneth Kolke (Stow, Ohio / Munroe Falls) and Mutemwa were named to the Academic All-Ohio First Team for DII, NAIA and NCCAA. Midfielder Andrew Bucur (Bedford, Ohio / St. Peter Chanel) was named to the Academic All- Ohio Second Team for D2, NAIA and NCCAA.

Kolke finished his senior season with two goals on the field as a part of the Storm defense. Kolke, an Accounting major, was honored with a First Team spot due to his 3.99 grade point average. Bucur had two goals and had three assists last season. Bucur is a Business Administration major with a 3.87 GPA. Mutemwa had a 3.88 grade point average as an International Business major.
