PAINESVILLE, Ohio- Former Lake Erie College men's soccer player Samuel Mutemwa (Johannesburg, South Africa / Sandringham High School) was signed by a brand new semi-professional indoor soccer team in December of 2016.
Mutemwa was signed by the Cleveland Legacy, a start-up team in the Premier Arena Soccer League, back on December 6th, 2016. He made his debut ten days later against the Youngstown Nighthawks.
"I am so happy for Sam," said Storm head coach Kevin Brenner. "This couldn't have happened to a better person or player, Sam is one of the most gifted players I have ever had the pleasure of coaching, he is a tireless worker and he was the glue in our central midfield the last two seasons. I have no doubt he will flourish playing indoor as he is gifted technically."
Mutemwa finished his senior season with the Storm in the fall. He earned multiple honors for his work on and off the field. He was named All-Ohio D2 Second Team and Academic All-Ohio First Team last month by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association (OCSA). He was also named to the All-GLIAC Second Team as a midfielder. In 14 games, Mutemwa scored one goal and assisted on three other goals.
The Legacy is one of 30 teams that play in the Men's Premier Division of the PASL. The Legacy plays their home games at the Soccer Sportsplex in North Olmsted, Ohio. More information, including a schedule can be found on the team's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/clelegacysoccer.
