FINDLAY, Ohio – The Lake Erie College men's soccer team was in action today (Sept. 14) as they were defeated by the University of Findlay, 6-2.
The Oilers came out of the gates strong as they opened the scoring 19 seconds into the game to take a 1-0 edge. A little over a minute later, the Oilers tacked on a second goal and took an early 2-0 lead over the Storm. Lake Erie battled back as they cut into the Findlay lead when Javier Borreguero (Nigran, Spain / Los Sauces School) found the back of the net off an assist by Miguel Espinoza (Perry, Ohio / Perry) to make the score 2-1 in favor of the Oilers. Findlay responded with the next four goals in the first half, one of which was on a penalty kick.
The Storm cut into the Oilers lead with a goal in the second half when Ezekiel Ebenezer (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) scored off an assist from Borreguero, to make the score, 6-2. Findlay held on to win the game, 6-2.
Lake Erie will return to the field Saturday (Sept. 16) when they travel to take on Ohio Dominican with the game set to kickoff at 2:30 p.m.
