NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Lake Erie College men's soccer team was in action on Saturday (Oct. 7) afternoon against the Trevecca Nazarene University Trojans in a Great Midwest matchup.
The Trojans defeated the Storm 4-3 in overtime on a late goal.
Lake Erie took a 1-0 lead in the tenth minute on an own goal. Lake Erie led 1-0 at halftime.
Trevecca tied the game at one with a goal off of a deflection in the 49th minute. In the 55th minute, Ezekiel Ebenezer (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) put the Storm up 2-1 with an assist from Miguel Espinoza (Perry, Ohio / Perry). Eleven minutes later, the Trojans tied the contest again with a goal from a cross. Trevecca took the 3-2 lead with 17 minutes left. The Storm tied the game again with under six minutes left. Callum Davidson (Mercyside, England / Liverpool Football Club Foundation College) found the back of the net after Javier Borreguero (Nigran, Spain / Los Sauces School) found him from the sideline. Lake Erie's late goal forced overtime in Nashville.
In the final seconds of the first overtime, Trevecca won the game with a goal. The Trojans won the game 4-3.
Six different players took shots for the Storm as they took ten shots as a team. Ebenezer led the Storm with three shots.
The Storm will return home for two Great Midwest matchups against Ohio Dominican and Findlay. Lake Erie will face Ohio Dominican on Thursday (Oct. 12) at 11:00 AM.
