(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Heading into today's game at Walsh, Lake Erie knew the result it needed to keep its season alive. By the end of the first half, the Storm (8-5-4, 6-5-3) were well on their way to clinching a bid to the G-MAC tournament and eventually defeated the Cavaliers (7-10-1, 4-9-1) 3-1 at Milazzo Field.
The usual suspects once again provided the fireworks as Aaron Middendorf was the first to find the back of the net for Lake Erie thanks to an assist from Ezekiel Ebenezer just seven minutes into the contest. Before the first third was over, Ebenezer made his presence felt once again and made it 2-0 on a helper from Jamos Hauk.
That lead quickly increased once again to 3-0 as the G-MAC's top goal scorer Miguel Espinoza connected on a pass from Javier Borreguero at 31:40.
Walsh eventually put some pressure on the Storm and scored in the 71st minute, but couldn't get any closer as time ran out on the Cavaliers.
Goalkeeper Tom John was excellent between the pipes and made three saves on the afternoon on 11 shots faced.
With the win, the Storm will be the No. 5 seed in the six-team G-MAC tournament which starts Saturday. Lake Erie will head southwest and take on No. 4 seed Ohio Dominican that day at 2 p.m. The two met just once this season with the Storm pulling out a 3-2 win at Panther Stadium on September 15.
